Ukrainian President Viktor Yushchenko praised the development of the GUAM Organization for Democracy and Economic Development during a joint press conference by the presidents of Ukraine, Poland, Lithuania, Georgia and Azerbaijan. "These two days of negotiations starting with Baku confirm that a project of this international organization looks optimistic as never before," the president said, UKRINFORM reported citing the president's press service.
Yushchenko said that with every summit, GUAM finds more international partners, and issues discussed during GUAM summits had left the bounds of this organization.
He also spoke about a project of the Eurasian oil transport corridor. "It is a fundamental project that will be implemented soon," he said.
"We are full of political will and decisiveness to implement in full the Viking project, which should be extended to Moldova, Georgia, Azerbaijan and Central Asia," Yushchenko said.
He said that a project on a new ferry passage between Ukraine and Georgia in the Black Sea "Kerch-Poti-Batumi" is on its final stage. "These and other agreements confirm that we have a big portfolio of agreements and that the work of countries during summits shows that we have an absolutely clear plan of what we want to bring our countries, our nations and the whole community. There is no doubt that we are united by the past, but first and foremost, by the future. We want to be countries integrated with the European policy, the European Union and the European collective model of security," Yushchenko said, adding that these goals will be achieved.
